Nightsiders are a species where I'm from. As hatchlings, they're cannibalistic, so that tends to color a lot of the way they treat the world. [She tilts her head as she tries to think of a good example.] I don't know a lot of them, but there's one about a young Nightsider dragging himself out of the pond he was spawned in, gaining sentience, and turning to pull another out of the water to help them also succeed. The other one hadn't gained sentience yet, though, so it ate him. I think it's supposed to warn against thinking of the group before yourself or... something.
