[The feed begins with a series of snapshots. It starts with images of a war-torn battlefield lined with giant crystals, Team Aqua and Magma grunts and hordes of Pokémon and trainers alike.]

This world isn't safe.

[The images shift. New snapshots appear of Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon, taken from a safe distance above, but distinct in that they are indeed giant, glowing monsters.]

What happened last week is proof of that. You may all be content to enjoy a carefree lifestyle, but if it weren't for divine intervention, life as we know it would have ended with a whimper.

Together, we were able to hold off Team Aqua and Magma's forces, but the battle doesn't end there. If you could make a difference in the protection of this world, would you do it?

[The message ends there. About a half hour later, another text appears on the network, this time from a non-anonymous source.]

So, I think we all learned something valuable from that mess down at Tohjo: Don't summon giant lizards and whales to start the apocalypse. God doesn't like it.

There's a lot I could say. It was a busy few days, but if you look past all the legendaries, the explosions, and those cornball teams, there are two things that stick out to me: the weird power up some of our Pokémon got and the Pokémon god himself.

[Case in point? Here's an image of a Mega Sharpedo getting punched in the nose by a Mega Charizard X.]

So, what do you guys think that power was? Did any of you get a straight answer from Arceus? And how about that fairy type?

Some of their members won't hesitate to attack human civilians. Even other trainers. They're chaotic, laying siege to towns for the sole purpose of their own sick entertainment. They also have numbers and resources on their side, including explosives.

[After all, a new type means new coverage. He'll have to see if he's in the same boat later.]

I gotta wonder what that fairy type can do. Its strengths, its weaknesses... It's a whole new type to consider when building teams, and I'm not sure how to feel about that.

Are you sure about that? There has to be something you can do, big or small.

[He's not about to turn someone away based on low confidence, at any rate. It's the drive that matters most.]

Forgive me for asking so many questions; I just like to know what sort of situation I'm looking at.

How many of them have you found? Or do they have the benefit of anonymity as well?

Team Rocket's not either one of the ones in the pictures, right?

I suppose the most useful thing about me would be my intellect. But even that isn't saying much.

[I mean, even if diseases are technically healed in Route, he does have a brain that's in the process of rotting away. Literally.]

No, it's smart to ask questions in a situation like this. Better that than to walk in blind.

I can't give an exact estimate, but it's possible their numbers are in the hundreds, if not higher. There are two primary kinds of rockets: the natives and outsiders like us. Most of the natives are low-ranking grunts. They're dangerous, but easily the lesser of two evils. It's the outsiders you want to worry about.

The problem is, they do have anonymity on their side. Two known Rockets include Cobra Commander and a guy called Seth. Cobra is loud, boastful, and prone to random acts of insanity. He's dangerous, but not too bright.

Seth is a wild card. He'll disappear for months on end, then reappear with a bang, and I mean that in a literal sense. Back in February, he declared war, planting bombs around Olivine city with only three days until their detonation. He seems to crave challenges. Like the whole world is his toy box, and we're his entertainment.

There's also the science division to worry about. They're the ones supplying the Rockets with new technology, and I received word from an inside source that one of their scientists has the TM for Explosion. His name is Dr. Kato, and according to that same source, he views destruction as an artform. The more victims, the better the masterpiece.

I'll tell you now that altruism isn't anything that interests me. I don't have any attachment to this world and I don't see any need to form one while I'm here, since I'm just going to be removed from it eventually and I won't remember a thing.

I'm not anyone's shield. I'm someone else's dagger. I can't provide either of those services for you, specifically.

What I can provide is a set of skills that may be very useful to both sides of this little conflict, entirely too much time on my hands, and a willingness to sell those skills to the highest bidder.

If I recall correctly, an invulnerability to Dragon-type attacks has been mentioned previously, but beyond that... I think Crystal might be one, but as it's also almost certainly a Rock-type any testing would be imprecise. Still, considering the popularity and general strength of Dragons, having such a counter in our teams would be a great asset.

[On the defensive side of things, at least.]

Believe me, I tried. I got people killed. There are better heroes out there. Stronger ones.

No, I don't. I'm used to doing it with a group of five other people, but more help is always good.

I don't know. Sometimes the simple comforts are the best.

I'm a little disappointed that none of my Pokemon got that special evolution, but they are a little on the young side. I just hope that the Science Department doesn't see that as some sort of challenge; I've heard they're rather tricksy like that.

i've got a pretty impressive resume of butt whooping and world saving (or at least attempting to)!! and i'm sure i'll do fiiiine. i mean friendship is totally great!!

Atsuro here, still around as long as this world, PokeGod or whatever wants me. I can provide any support, either in battle or technological, if you need it.

Seems like I got lucked out and didn't experience whatever you guys saw. So I've been stuck dealing with the quakes and the aftermaths.

But it's pretty interesting to see two confirmation: Pokemon god (as in of all creation, or a certain domain?) and the fairy type, which means accounting for it in type advantages/disadvantages.

I don't know how much help I would be defending the world, but I can't just stand back and do nothing, either. Not if the world is potentially in danger.

I wouldn't be so sure. Intelligence is just as important as a strong team or combat skills. There's a lot you can do with a sharp mind, so why sell yourself short?

Hmm... Come to think of it, that keyring Pokémon was immune to dragon type moves, too. And those Sylveons are fairy types, so testing with one of those might be the quickest way to sort things out.

[It's said as a nearby Sylveon gives a curious yup and pokes its head into view. Hello, strange man!]

You know, I think I might have a hunch who you are.

Anyway, you pass the first round, but how well do you work with other people?

[Riku takes several moments to deliberate a response. This guy's honest. Not a would-be hero type like others he knows.

What sort of skills? And what's your price?

No, but that doesn't make them any less dangerous. Just like Magma and Aqua, the Rockets will go to great lengths to get what they want. And sometimes, they'll blow up a landmark or plant bombs in a city for their own cheap thrills.

They're unpredictable and work in secrecy. That's what gives them an edge.

Man, I wish I could've seen that, but I had my hands full just trying to keep those punks off my back. Plus, I had to keep an eye out for Kairi and Xion.

[Babysitting responsibilities, y'know. All part of being the eldest of the Key-kids.]

Something tells me that they might try and replicate it. I don't know much about them, but I've gotten word that they're kinda insane. Something about one of their members viewing destruction as an art.

[In that case... pew. He'll throw up a filter and drop the anon altogether. Means he doesn't have to juggle two 'gears.]

Well, what do you think you could bring to the table? Strengths? Skills? There's a group of us who've been working to fight the Rockets for years now, so you wouldn't be alone by a long shot.

The sandwiches were pretty good, though, so I think I'll take it as a compliment from the big guy himself.
