[Well, he probably should've seen this coming. After last year's turn out, it's no wonder Clair opted for another prom. And, well, after getting nailed on the head by at least three of those invite balls, Riku appears onscreen in what looks like a kitchen, leaning back against a counter.]

So, I know everyone's getting amped up for the prom, and I can't really blame you guys. Tohjo's a pretty sweet resort, but something about it still bugs me. That place is supposed to to be the Elite Four's private getaway, and we haven't even seen them over the past few years, let alone heard from them.

[He narrows his eyes, shifting his position against the counter.]

Gotta wonder what their deal is. Supposedly, they're the toughest trainers out there, but ever since I came here, they've been MIA. No challenges and no explanation, but the locals talk about them like they're these big-time celebrities.

[He waves one of his hands.]

Maybe this year will be different. Beats me, but I guess if anyone wants to hang out during the party, we can work something out. That's what parties are for, right? Not fussing over battles that might not even happen...

[Sigh. With that all said, he'll switch to a private channel.]

Heads up. I know the timing's kind of bad, I figure we won't have a better chance then this. Sometime during the party, we need to meet up and touch base. It's been a while since the incident down in Olivine, but I doubt the Rockets will stay quiet for long.

If you're worried about getting caught, don't be: the place is huge, and I'm sure almost everyone will be too busy with the party to consider tracking us down. But just for added security, we can pick a secluded spot and talk there.

[And at that, Riku's brow creases, and he slaps a hand over his face.]

And I didn't see anything suspicious last year. There's a few places that're off limits to guests, but the most I really saw were group photos of them and their Pokémon. If it weren't for that, I'd almost think they were myths.

Was there any way to tell when the pictures were taken or where? [...Maybe something happened to the 'Elite Four' but it was being covered up? Or they were not on the two areas available to them? There's a lot of questions.]

Hmm... Well, they weren't from any place I'd seen before. If I had to guess, they were all pretty old, too. Think mementos.

[But as for who, Riku snorts. He remembers one encounter in particular.]

But I did bump into a couple of Gym Leaders, including a former Elite Four champ. Don't know if you've heard of him, but his name's Blue. Probably one of the toughest leaders out there, even if he's just a kid.

I haven't been here long enough to get a ton of information. [So far last time it was the gym leaders. Hinata notes that in the back of his head and focuses back on the pictures.]

Wait. If the places were no where you've ever seen before... [What's more likely?] maybe they're locked out of this area?

[It's a theory.]

It's possible. I mean, Tohjo falls is closed off for the whole year; only way to squeeze in is to attend Prom. Otherwise, forget about it.

[He shakes his head, frowning faintly. It's a shame, too, because he'd love to spend more time up there.]

And that's ignoring the other regions out there. Hoenn, Sinnoh, all of them are out of our reach. For all we know, the Elite Four could spend vacation time out there, where we won't bother them.

Are there places we can get information on those regions? [He wants to learn everything he can. He's still got the sense everything will come crashing down but, he's trying to have faith that this place is ok.]

There's libraries.

[Riku shrugs and, after a few seconds, he scoops up a book from the kitchen table titled "Sinnoh Region Myths".]

You can try your luck with the locals too, but overall, the info's kinda scarce. Probably wouldn't get much unless you talked to professors, and I know for a fact that those guys aren't easy to reach.

Why aren't they so easy to reach? Are they busy with some research project? [He can't help how full of questions he is. But he pauses to add.]

I'll check out the libraries, I'm just curious.

Hmm, might be some research involved, or maybe they just don't like fielding questions. The fact is, we're all outsiders, and the locals know it.

[In fact, that lights up a little lightbulb in his head...]

Maybe they're trying to research how we got here.

...I don't see why they wouldn't. We came from and go to somewhere, that's got to bother them. [It would him. He'd be worried and wary of the new people.]
