[Now where's Riku been amidst all this chaos?

He's been... in various locations over the past few weeks. Between heading out to Union Cave to get Demyx's Onix to getting caught up in the fog, things haven't been particularly dull, much less pleasant for Riku, and it shows. Right now, he's close to the Pokémart in Violet City, sitting with one hand pressed against his head. His Haunter can be seen in the background, hovering around with a shiny new Rotom, but Riku doesn't give them a passing glance.

His mind's too wrapped around his nightmare visions. Seeing his best friends abandon him-- replace him. There's a reason he hasn't touched his Gear in a while. However, he doesn't say a word about it.

Instead, he groans, muttering something under his breath...]

Can't get it out of my head now. It's been months...

[Shaking his head, Riku finally looks down at the Pokégear.]

What's it like, past Azalea Town? I only got to see the forest.

Well, I had four Pokémon, but Vine's never been the most obedient. It's why I've kept her in the box and focused on the others.

But now that I've got Surge--

[Vrrrrrm~ Say hi to the jolly looking Rotom, Kay.]

I've got more to work with. Same goes for my Totodile egg; it'll give me more to train.

Oh, Trucy's got a Totodi-- hi, there!

[ Kay grins at the Rotom, wriggling her fingers at it. ] You're pretty cute for something that looks like it could fry me!

[Oh, that seems to please the electric ghost, which buzzes and whirs in delight.]

I figured I'd need an electric type sooner or later, and a ghost? Even better.

It's a weird combo, but I bet it's in its element on a dark and stormy night hovering over a haunted mansion!

[Pfff. He laughs.]

Yeah, I can see it now. A small, orange ghost in a spooky backdrop... Not exactly what I'd call scary, but who knows? Maybe all it needs is to be in the right place at the right time.

Think about it, Riku! You're all set for Halloween now!

[He looks over two his two ghosts with a smirk and then sends out his Nidoking, who flails a bit before landing on his rump.]

I'd almost say Slacker fits in, but he doesn't really act that vicious.

-- Whoa! When did he become a dinosaur?!

After all those Unown attacked. Used a Moon Stone on him, and he evolved.

... He's still not that used to it.

Growing that much, I'd need some time, too! But he looks so cool now!

[ is she enthusiastic? Yes. Yes she is. ]

Yeah, and he's stronger. Still, he may look different, but he hasn't changed a bit.

[A beat.]

Besides, Highwind's still bigger.

Yeah, I remember Pidgeot being huge...

Maybe someday I'll be able to ride on his back. It'd make traveling easier.

Byrne's too little to fly on, and Windy, too.

... And Prim just doesn't let me walk when she's out.

She doesn't, huh?

She's a dinosaur, too. Just fussier.

Sounds like you've got your hands full.

But that's what makes it fun, right?

I guess. Like I said, my team's pretty small, and I only just got Surge.
