islandshore: (Rival Riku wants to battle!)

15 - video/action for Azalea - the most onesided Gym battle ever!

[Today's broadcast is brought to you by Rotom-cam, courtesy of Surge, who quietly Vrrrrms as the doors to Azaleas gym open. There's a nice shot of Riku and his big ol' Charizard from behind as he storms into the gym, poised and eager to challenge anyone who crosses his path.

He looks over to Flare with a smirk.]

Just remember, Flare. Bring them down before there's a chance to fight back. I give it five minutes, tops.

[Flare grunts, glancing around the gym with a rather bored expression. After a brief pause, he nods, and the two make their way through the gym and battle the various trainers in the way of Bugsy. The battles fly by fast; Flare one-shots every Pokémon before they have a chance to strike. Naturally, Surge records all of this from pleasing angles so Riku has something to boast about.

But, soon enough, he reaches Bugsy, who looks surprisingly calm, given the circumstances. It's quite the contrast from Whitney, really.]

Ready to go down?

[He shakes his head.]

Your Charizard's pretty impressive, but don't think I'll go easy on you. I'm an expert when it comes to Bug Pokémon.

We'll just see about that.

[He smirks, letting Flare step into the fray, as Bugsy sends out his Pinsir. It snaps the pincers on its head and gives Flare a nasty glare, but right as it jumps forward to attack, Flare rolls his eyes and blasts it with flamethrower. Instant K.O.

Bugsy orders his Heracross to use Stone Edge, and it readies itself with some sharp rocks, but Flare's level advantage and flight gives him the upper hand, and another white-hot inferno shoots down at the bug. Another K.O? You bet.

Lastly, Bugsy calls forth his Scizor. At this point, Riku laughs. Bug and steel is the worst possible combination to battle a level 97 Charizard. Naturally, before the Scizor has a chance to move, Flare puts the poor thing out of its misery with an immense inferno-- this time, Riku made him use Blast Burn, to add insult to injury.]

[In the end, Bugsy manages to stay calm in spite of his embarrassing defeat, and Riku obtains the Hive Badge and the U-turn TM. With that, he'll slowly head out of the gym with Flare in tow. People are free to spot him in the gym or outside, as later on he'll be chilling by the Pokémon Center. Once there, he'll finally speak into the Gear.]

So, we finally made it to Azalea. About time, too. And, to tell you the truth, I don't mind sticking around here for a bit. It's Violet I'm not looking forward to. Worst city in Johto, I swear.

[He shakes his head.]

Anyway, I've got a few Riolu eggs to get rid of, plus a few others in the PC. If anyone wants my last Charmander and Totodile eggs, just let me know. At this point, I'll sell them at a discount.

[ooc: So, I'm finally setting up the post for those eggs I mentioned. Info here!]

... Wow.

[She's not looking her best, she looks a little tired from her earlier revelation, but she's pulled herself together anyway.]

That was a pretty one sided battle. Your Pokemon must be pretty high level, or is the type advantage just really that big? [Asking as someone that's seen it go both ways between water and fire.]

Waaah... That must've been a serious downer for Bugsy.

What's the problem with Violet, though? It seems like a nice little city.

[ HOLY WOW ]

You did real good, Ree-coo! Now I'm all fired up for my first Gym battle!

[ Hey look, it's Captain Frownypants. ]

A bit overkill.

What, you expected me to go easy on him?

[He shakes his head. It made things quick, plus it was a good chance for Flare to fight something higher than level 15.]

[ A moment's pause. ] Of course not. But there was no need to embarrass him, either.

Heh, thanks.

[He smirks. Meanwhile, Flare's shaking his head in the background. Did he really have to make this a publicity stunt?]

[identity profile] islandshore.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
He's level 97, but there was a type advantage.

[So, basically, it's the best of both worlds. Flare was ridiculously overleveled.]

[identity profile] islandshore.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
He's probably used to it, though. How else would people get badges?

[Riku shrugs.]

My problem's that being there for months left a bad taste in my mouth.

[identity profile] islandshore.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Fired up, huh?

[Pun intended or not, it's still pretty amusing.]

Well, Falkner's not too tough, if you know what to do.

Fire's most effective against steel, and Flare's level 97. Even if I used ember, it would've been the same. Why draw it out when I can make it easier for both of us?

[ ... she feels a little bad for Bugsy, but she's got to congratulate the BFF and his dragon.

Here Flare, she's even got a treat for you! ]

That didn't even seem like a fight, did it?

[ He arches a brow. ]

Is that what you were doing? Because it looked like less of an attack and more of an insult.

[Katara looks adequately impressed.]

WOW. [Total domination.] They really get that strong? Well, congratulations on the gym win. [A short beat, and then she looks curious, tilting her head slightly to one side.]

The names sound kind of similar, so I'm guessing Charmander is related to Charizard? Do you mind if I ask? I haven't seen one yet. What type is Totodile?

[identity profile] rodeopony.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[ Applejack giggles at the pun. ] That's right! But it's okay--I don't need any tricks. Me an' Winona are gonna fight him together!

Um... What level are your Pokemon at? I'm a little curious...

I suppose being in a town for that long can do that to you!

Violet City is where trainers go to get stuck for a year.

Heh. ...That looked ridiculously easy.

I've got no use for your eggs myself, but my friends might. I'll get the word out if they don't check their 'gears.

[identity profile] pervyprince.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Riolu? What kind of pokemon is that?

[identity profile] islandshore.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but if they're supposed to be so elite, then Gym Leaders should be prepared for this kind of thing.

I came here for a badge, not a pity party.

[identity profile] islandshore.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, thanks.

[Give him a second, and then... here, he'll send out his Feraligatr.]

Charmander evolves into Charizard, and Totodiles evolve into one of these.

[Unfortunately, Jaws looks pretty derpy, despite his fierce exterior. He's just sorta... scratching his head. Did Master make another friend? He grunts.]

They're water types. Pretty powerful once you train them.

[identity profile] islandshore.livejournal.com 2011-04-20 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of them are at or around level 100 now. Got a few around level 50, and the rest are still pretty new.

[TREAT?! Yeah, Flare's gonna... go on over to Kairi, keeping cool. But darn it, treats!

Riku shrugs, though, following his big ol' dragon.]

Maybe not, but it got the job done.
