[There's a brief video in the Mahogany Gym.

The fight begins with the Dewgong. Due to its typing, Riku allows his Rotom to get the job done, darting around with a combo of Thunderbolt and Discharge. It's over quickly, due to a glaring level advantage and Riku's insistance to mow the enemies down.

Next up, Surge faces the Lapras with a similar ferocity. Despite its size advantage, the silly Rotom doesn't hesitate to strike with a barrage of electricity.

Lastly, Pryce sends out his Mamoswine. Riku steps back, allowing his Charizard to enter the fray. Seconds later, Flare strikes with a ferocious Blast Burn.

The battle ends, and Riku snatches the 'Gear from his Scizor.]

Kairi's gone. She disappeared when I hit Cianwood City. That was a few days ago.

Don't bother looking for me. I'm in Mahogany Town, and I'm going to Blackthorn City. Wanna know how I got here so fast?

Fly's a pretty useful move

[After that, folks around Mahogany Town might spot an extremely tired looking teenager entering and exiting the Pokémon Center. He'll fly as far as he can before he has to stop. That ice cave... it looks tough, but if he can get there in a few hours, he'll take those chances. For the cave itself, he'll let Flare do the hard work.

With his party packed, he'll stop long enough to get a bite to eat and gather supplies. After that, he'll hop right onto his Charizard's back and head for the Ice Cave, for better or worse.]

[ooc: All of Rikus badges are approved now-- no worries there. Also, Kia and I decided that Kairi actually left a few days ago, when Riku hit Cianwood. He left Cianwood that same day and flew straight for Mahogany. Yay!]

I'm busy -- [Turning, he narrows his eyes slightly. Something about this guy seems familiar, but maybe the bags under his eyes throw him off. Curling his lip in an almost trollish expression now, he shrugs and ignores as the cashier sliiiiides into a duck behind the counter.]

Holding a marathon on how long you can go without sleep? The darkness will overtake you at some point. [Really, he means sleep; or at least, the unconciousness it entails.]

[That face. That voice... It's the last thing he needs right now.

But he'll groan and go with it. Or try.]

Hah. I think I can handle myself just fine.

Sure doesn't seem like it. [Shrugging with his hands up in a tauntish gesture, he curls his lip up further into a sort of smug sneer. He can't quite put his finger on it, but something about this guy reminds him of Terra.

And ugh, Terra of all people means he feels the need to kick his butt.]

You're overworking yourself to dodge something, aren't you. [Like feelings. Vanitas knows the symptoms, he's studied people.]

[He winces. Was it really that obvious?

...Of course it was, but he's not about to admit it. Riku takes a deep breath and straightens his posture.]

I'm not 'dodging' anything.

[The wince tells him all he needs to know, and Vanitas just snorts and laughs.] Pathetic. It's so obvious. [The cashier? Yeah, he's totally craaawling out of sight cause he smells the fight. Plus, he's still got the guy's change-]

Shut up!

[He gives Vanitas a death glare, fists clenched. Yeah, someone's pissed.]

Make me. [The glare is ineffective, but he's got an eye on those clenched fists... and all it's doing is making his smile nastier.]

Gladly.

[And now to throw a punch at him. >C]

[Catching the punch and shoving the fist back to knock him off balance, Vanitas just laughs harder.] Was that it?

I'm just getting started.

[He says that as he stumbles back and launches himself a Vanitas.]

Are you really? [Sliding his foot back to stabilize himself, that nasty smile remained as he dropped one knee to duck under the swinging kid and sharply stand to throw him over his shoulder.]

[Riku's too exhausted to move out of the way. Congratulations, Vanitas. You just obtained +1 snarkbutt.]

That was terrible. [Dropping him none too gently to the tiled floor, he just gives a shove with his foot.]

[Oh yeah? Well, what if he grabs Vanitas by the leg and tries to drag him down?]

[Shifting his weight onto his other foot, he simply lifts the 'captured' one and swats with a sharp kick. Did you need that side Riku, I hope you didn't, cause it's earning a bruise.]
