53 - video/action for Cerulean;
[The video clicks on, giving a view of Cerulean's water park in the distance, complete with towering water slides, wave pools, and other aquatic attractions. For a few seconds, Riku gazes at the park before giving a light shrug and facing the camera.]
You know, it's too bad summer's almost over. Cerulean's water park's gotta be one of the best attractions I've seen in Johto or Kanto. If you haven't seen them yet, you should really check out their water shows. Think there's only a week or two left before they shut down for the season. Come to think of it, the bug catching contest's over too, isn't it? Seems like all the fun stuff happens over just a few months.
[It's been a solid enough distraction after everything that's happened. Scooping up Kairi, his stubborn fixation on honing his own strength (and getting a few scrapes and bruises in the process). At least staying on the move satiates his wanderlust.
Ah well. After shaking his head and chuckling softly, Riku props one hand on his hip and continues.]
Anyway, you'd be surprised what happens when you've got hours of free time and nothing else to do. I talked to John about this a while back, but... Dodrios. You'd think that without wings they'd be grounded like ostriches, but they're not. So, I decided to teach one Fly and... well, just see for yourself.
[The tilts the camera up, giving a fine view of, well... this, just with a single Dodrio. There's nothing remarkable about it beyond its disregard to physics, but at least it'll make a good present for Sora. And now that he's shown off that little oddity, he'll turn the camera back on himself.]
But that's nothing new, right? Gastlies can learn punches somehow and Cubones hatch with their skulls. Now that I think about, do Farfetch'd start out with those leeks? I don't know. I'm sure there are stranger Pokémon attack combos out there, so if anyone's got any, I'd be happy to hear. Not like I've got any plans right now.
['til then, the feed clicks off.]

video; /utterly fails at hiatus because flutterbirds
[They mystery.]
[It has been solved.]
Huh. Well that... [
still makes no sense.] works, I guess. Here's an oddity that's come up recently for me a few times though, especially recently: Yamask. So they were once human, right? A long long time ago, according to the 'dex and every book I have found on the subject. Yet they can still have eggs. I'm wondering if it's some kind of reincarnation or something, in those cases.And for attack combos... did you know that Spiritomb can learn Water Pulse via TM? That actually helped me beat Blaine recently. Arcanine can learn teleport, Audino can learn surf... there are a lot of weird ones out there, basically, yeah. You are right.
video; It's the Benny Hill music, isn't it?
Well, if last Halloween's anything to go by, then at least some Yamasks used to be people. I figure it's like you said-- reincarnation. Kind of scary to think about, though. Do people drop like flies here when nobody's looking?
[Or maybe the spirits hang out in some kind of limbo for a while... which would still imply that a sizeable number of people died at some point.
Now, Riku opens his mouth to comment on some of John's example, but then he hears the words "Arcanine" and "Teleport". If he were a cartoon character, his eyes would've popped out of his head.]
Wait, wait, wait. You mean to tell me that Arcanine can just... teleport? But it's not even a Psychic type!
video; yes. yes it is.
[If nobody ever dies then like...how does the population here not spiral out of control?]
But anyway, yeah, they can. Want me to show you? I can totally go get Bec out of the PC and show you, I'm not even making this shit up. It's ridiculous.
video;
[Seriously, teleporting dogs? How can he pass up an opportunity like that?]
And as for death, maybe only the locals can die. Who knows? Not like this place doesn't have enough mysteries already.
video;
Anyway, brb, gotta go grab the teleporting doggie.
[Why can't there be portable PCs. Or better yet, why can't you have all your Pokémon with you at once?
Just get a house already, John.]video;

[He rubs at his brow, breathing out a sigh.]
Nothing new for this place, though. John just told me that Arcanines can teleport.

[ Saber tries too often to apply logic to things. Ironic, considering she's female King Arthur and comes from a canon with things that make little sense. ]

[Hmm. That actually makes a tiny bit of sense when he really thinks about it.]
Still doesn't explain Cloyster, though. I just checked, and apparently it learns Teleport, too. Same with Electabuzz and Clefairy.

[ Because Saber is going to shove that TM at every one of her Pokemon to see which one it sticks with just for fun.
(Yes, she wants to actually do something for fun.) ]

anontext;
The versatility of these creatures is fascinating, but this sort of investigation is even more so. There seems to be a great deal of unknown or perhaps unrealized potential within them.

He seems smart enough, given those big words.]
You've got that right. I've been training them for three years, and they still surprise me sometimes. And if you think this is interesting, just check out some of the Pokédex entries. You've got gems like:
"Spoink bounces around on its tail. The shock of its bouncing makes its heart pump. As a result, this Pokémon cannot afford to stop bouncing – if it stops, its heart will stop."
"Banette generates energy for laying strong curses by sticking pins into its own body. This Pokémon was originally a pitiful plush doll that was thrown away. It seeks the child that disowned it."
Haven't gotten around to investigating those, though.

You research into these oddities? Please let me know the next time that you decide to. There seems to be quite a great deal to investigate as far as the lore behind these creatures goes... and that doesn't even extend into the mythology of earlier people who no doubt elevated them as gods or spirits of various sorts.
Perhaps one could say such things are a hobby of mine. I would be quite pleased to be kept abreast of any details that you do find, or if we are in the same area to observe or assist with any other such delvings.

Or you could scope out the Ruins of Alph. It's got ancient inscriptions, old puzzles, and the place screws with the PokéGear's radio signal. Basically, it's got 'mysterious' written all over it.
I'll keep you clued in on anything else I find, though. Gotta keep myself busy somehow.

Ah, yes. An idle mind does desire distractions. There isn't a finer way to to distract oneself than with exploring what is lost or unknown.

You're right, you do have too much time on your hands.

[He raises an eyebrow and places his hands on his hips. If anyone can keep him busy, it's her and Sora. They always seem to save him from the terror of boredom.]

[It's certainly not the island, but who can say no to so much water?]
action;
[He casts a glance at the water park and snickers.]
Not like we'll be able to swim once the temperatures drop.
action;
That's going to be tough to get through. [She gives an exaggerated sigh.] And we're not going to be able to throw Sora into the water when he's not paying attention.

...has anyone invented a word that sums this sight aptly yet?
[video]
[But congrats, Souji, that got a laugh out of Riku. After all, there's so much weirdness and no blanket term.]
Got any ideas?
[video]
[Okay, he cheated a little, but really. If there were more weird things like this and the cliffs, they'd likely need more than just a blanket term.]
[video]
[But hey, it's still fun to think about from time to time.]
