[The video clicks on, giving a view of Cerulean's water park in the distance, complete with towering water slides, wave pools, and other aquatic attractions. For a few seconds, Riku gazes at the park before giving a light shrug and facing the camera.]

You know, it's too bad summer's almost over. Cerulean's water park's gotta be one of the best attractions I've seen in Johto or Kanto. If you haven't seen them yet, you should really check out their water shows. Think there's only a week or two left before they shut down for the season. Come to think of it, the bug catching contest's over too, isn't it? Seems like all the fun stuff happens over just a few months.

[It's been a solid enough distraction after everything that's happened. Scooping up Kairi, his stubborn fixation on honing his own strength (and getting a few scrapes and bruises in the process). At least staying on the move satiates his wanderlust.

Ah well. After shaking his head and chuckling softly, Riku props one hand on his hip and continues.]

Anyway, you'd be surprised what happens when you've got hours of free time and nothing else to do. I talked to John about this a while back, but... Dodrios. You'd think that without wings they'd be grounded like ostriches, but they're not. So, I decided to teach one Fly and... well, just see for yourself.

[The tilts the camera up, giving a fine view of, well... this, just with a single Dodrio. There's nothing remarkable about it beyond its disregard to physics, but at least it'll make a good present for Sora. And now that he's shown off that little oddity, he'll turn the camera back on himself.]

But that's nothing new, right? Gastlies can learn punches somehow and Cubones hatch with their skulls. Now that I think about, do Farfetch'd start out with those leeks? I don't know. I'm sure there are stranger Pokémon attack combos out there, so if anyone's got any, I'd be happy to hear. Not like I've got any plans right now.

[John had pretty much forgotten about this conversation, given how sleep deprived he'd been at the time. But he did it. He actually did it.]

Huh. Well that... [~~still makes no sense.~~] works, I guess. Here's an oddity that's come up recently for me a few times though, especially recently: Yamask. So they were once human, right? A long long time ago, according to the 'dex and every book I have found on the subject. Yet they can still have eggs. I'm wondering if it's some kind of reincarnation or something, in those cases.

And for attack combos... did you know that Spiritomb can learn Water Pulse via TM? That actually helped me beat Blaine recently. Arcanine can learn teleport, Audino can learn surf... there are a lot of weird ones out there, basically, yeah. You are right.

[Yamask? Heh. Riku nods, having prior experience with those particular ghosts.]

Well, if last Halloween's anything to go by, then at least some Yamasks used to be people. I figure it's like you said-- reincarnation. Kind of scary to think about, though. Do people drop like flies here when nobody's looking?

[Or maybe the spirits hang out in some kind of limbo for a while... which would still imply that a sizeable number of people died at some point.

Now, Riku opens his mouth to comment on some of John's example, but then he hears the words "Arcanine" and "Teleport". If he were a cartoon character, his eyes would've popped out of his head.]

Wait, wait, wait. You mean to tell me that Arcanine can just... teleport? But it's not even a Psychic type!

No idea...death is strange and stupidly complicated here. Or I mean...when you sit down and really try and think about it, it gets kinda complicated. On its face, it's really simple.

[If nobody ever dies then like...how does the population here not spiral out of control?]

But anyway, yeah, they can. Want me to show you? I can totally go get Bec out of the PC and show you, I'm not even making this shit up. It's ridiculous.

And as for death, maybe only the locals can die. Who knows? Not like this place doesn't have enough mysteries already.

That was always my assumption as well. But someone brought up a very good point about that too me recently. You never hear about death counts. Morbid though it is, with as much as Team Rocket is always blowing shit up, there should be at least a small death count, don't you think?

Anyway, brb, gotta go grab the teleporting doggie.

[It takes about fifteen minutes but eventually John calls back, or rather his gear does. John himself is nowhere to be seen, instead the screen is taken up by a Rotom's face. It seems he let his Rotom possess his gear and left it floating just outside of the Pokémon center. The Rotom grins widely, giving a buzzing-sounding giggle before somehow managing to send a text while keeping the video on.]

[The face vanishes from the screen. Seems like Tron's count was a little off though, because it's actually more like a minute before anything actually happens. That something, namely, being that John suddenly appears out of nowhere in a rainbow-y flash on the back of an Arcanine right in front of the Pokécenter door.]
